Veuve Clicquot NV from The Co-op

A Christmas fizz from the Co-op

If you want to celebrate, nothing says it quite like fizz and if you want it to be classy, then it has to be Champagne.

The Co-op does and excellent range of fizz and Veuve Clicquot is a name amongst Champagne houses; it was founded in 1772 and is credited with:

- creating the first known vintage champagne in 1810
- inventing the riddling table process to clarify champagne in 1816
- invented the first known blended rosé champagne

During the Napoleonic Wars, Veuve Clicquot established the wine in royal courts throughout Europe, notably that of Imperial Russia, and played an important role in establishing champagne as a favoured drink of high society and nobility throughout Europe.

Veuve Cliquot, NV Champagne (£40) fresh orchard fruits, citrus and leesy complexity; long and linear, elegant and fine.

Good.

Drink as an aperitif, or match with light canapes.
